When Should I Replace My Mattress?

When Should I Replace My Mattress?

Just like any other commodity, your mattress also has an expiration date. Though this date is not written on a label, there are specific signs that indicate when an upgrade needs to be made.

Replacing a mattress has a ton of benefits, such as saving you from health issues, aches or pains, and providing you with a better overall sleeping experience.

There is no exact time as to when to make the upgrade, however, if you have used your mattress for more than 8 years, then it is definitely time to shop for a replacement.

Signs you Need a New Mattress

  1. Wear and Tear
After using your mattress for a long period of time, it is only natural to begin to notice some wear and tear. In this case, you may begin to feel the springs when you lay down or hear it creaking and groaning. If you have a memory foam mattress, the foam may begin to sag and cause a sinking sensation. It is normal for mattresses to wear out from everyday use. Once you see these signs, it is important to start considering new mattress options.
  1. Sleep Deprivation
If you wake up still feeling tired, notice you’re tossing and turning throughout the night, or realize you are waking up once, twice, or even three times before your morning alarm, then it sounds like you are slowly becoming sleep deprived. The solution could be a new mattress.
  1. Aches and Pain
Are you waking up to some major pains in your joints and muscles? Neck aches? Back aches? It might be due to your sleeping position but more likely, it’s your bed. If it is the latter, then you should find a replacement mattress to give you the best rest without pain. Over time, mattresses wear out. Your bed may not be supporting your body like it once did when it was new, thus causing your pain.
  1. Dust Mites and Bed Bugs
If you find these bad boys in your bed, then it is time to make that replacement as they have come to stay! The cost of getting a new mattress vs the cost of pest treatments is even more reason to just make the switch and upgrade.

We take comfort in our mattress. We love our bed and we really love our sleep. It is hard to think about getting rid of something we love. But keep in mind, replacing your mattress has nothing but benefits. Why not love your sleep even more in your brand new mattress? No creaky springs, no sagging foam. Just blissful sleep.
