7 Unexpected Lifestyle Changes That Will Dramatically Enhance Your Wellbeing
When we think about making changes to improve our wellness, we leave it for a New Year’s Resolution or think that the change has to be major and will require a lot of effort. We are here to tell you that this is absolutely not the case. Making a lifestyle change that is highly beneficial requires you to be mindful and perhaps tie-in new habits into existing ones. Even small changes can have a big impact.

1 – Drink more water

For example, drinking more water is essential. Dr. Jason Loth, co-founder of SpineAlign and a wellness expert, recommends drinking at least 75% of your body weight in ounces of water per day. Each time that you go to the bathroom, make sure you drink a glass of water. This is a good way to remember to drink more and you are making it a part of a regular routine.

2 – Proper sleep posture is essential

Did you know that to ensure proper sleep posture you should never sleep on your stomach? Yes, it’s true. Always sleep on your side or back. Of course, we also recommend a SpineAlign mattress and pillow which will ensure a restorative night’s sleep and an energetic day. More on that later!

3 – Wear the right footwear

Don't wear shoes that have a heel higher than the forefoot. This leads to poor bio-mechanics and stress on your whole body. This includes most sneakers as well.  That’s because an elevated heel shifts body mass forward and causes our entire body to react to this shift by compensating. The results can include knee pain, issues with lower leg muscles, and posture problems.

4 – Put down that cell phone!

Again, we are talking about proper posture. Whether you are laying down, standing, or sitting, it’s all about the posture. Most phones, tablets and some computers will put you in poor posture and stress the muscles and joints of your body. It’s also essential to put away your phone or tablet overnight and sleep in as much darkness as possible. This promotes restorative sleep.

5 – You’ll feel good by making others feel good

Dr. Loth recommends that people compliment someone every day. More specifically, tell them how grateful you are for something they have done for you. This is great to do in general but also gets you to start thinking of positive thoughts and loving others. Try it just once a day and you’ll be obsessed with the smile on the other person’s face.

6 – Invest in a good pillow and mattress

Sleep is so important. It affects everything from our memory to our emotions and overall health. It’s one of the reasons why Dr. Loth co-founded SpineAlign. SpineAlign’s Luxury Hybrid mattress, along with the SpineAlign pillow, support proper posture for sleep that is not only comfortable, but encourages healing and recovery as well. This one-of-a-kind sleep system was specifically engineered to put your body in its most natural, relaxed position to allow maximum recovery and energy regeneration.

7 – Get more exercise

There are actually many benefits from exercise including that motion helps to work the muscles and lubricate the joints. Over time if muscles don't get used, they will wear out. Exercise releases endorphins, the feel-good hormones and can help you feel better. Exercise also helps to improve metabolic function. This means that when you exercise, your heart beats faster and you pump more blood. And as more blood moves throughout your system, it helps to deliver more oxygen and nutrients to the cells while stimulating your body to flush out toxins.

It can be difficult to make changes in our lives, even small ones. But once you start to experience more energetic days, better nights’ sleep, and overall improved well-being, the effort needed to make these small changes will seem well worth it.
